AAC Clyde Space launches group-wide newsletter

2021-08-20 AAC Clyde Space AB (publ)
Leading New Space company AAC Clyde Space has published the first issue of its group-wide newsletter, SPAACE TALK.

SPAACE TALK comes at a time of significant expansion for the Group, which has made three strategic acquisitions in the last 12 months as it sets out to become a world leader in commercial small satellites and services from space.

The publication, that will be published a few times a year, not only rounds up the latest news from across the Group, but also explores the most exciting themes in New Space through interviews with colleagues and industry experts from around the world.

The first issue shines a light on Space Data as a Service (SDaaS), set to be AAC's top growth engine over the coming years. The Group's recent acquisitions have transformed its SDaaS capabilities, allowing it to serve more clients and collect new types of data through the use of advanced sensors, which give it a leading advantage in weather data, a field set to grow strongly as new technology enables huge improvements in forecasting and climate research.

This strategy is paying off. In June, AAC secured its largest SDaaS contract to date: a four-year agreement to provide Canadian Earth observation company Wyvern Inc. with hyperspectral images of Earth. These images capture far more information than the human eye can detect. Wyvern will first offer the data to the agriculture sector where it will help optimize yields, and detect invasive plants, pests and changes in soil makeup. Under the agreement, AAC Clyde Space will design, manufacture and own the satellites.

The first issue of SPAACE TALK also covers the visit by Her Majesty The Queen and Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to AAC's Glasgow facility in June to celebrate the Group's contribution to the thriving UK space sector.

Commenting on the launch, AAC Clyde Space CEO Luis Gomes said, "Our vision at AAC is to deliver high-quality, timely data from space for a better life on Earth. As we continue to grow and accomplish great things together, I hope that SPAACE TALK will help us to stay connected and focused, by sharing stories from all corners of our global business and putting them into a broader context: how do they help to make our vision a reality?"
